Where can I view job openings & submit my application?
You can view all current job postings and submit your application directly through our careers page at jobs.evr.com
What can I expect during the recruitment process?
Our recruitment process is designed to be a two-way conversation – an opportunity for us to learn about your skills and experience, and for you to assess if we’re the right fit for your career goals. After we receive your application, we’ll review it carefully. If you’re selected to move forward, the first step will be a prescreen call or a request to answer a few questions using a pre-recorded video tool, which is compatible with most smart devices. The next stage typically involves an interview, often conducted virtually. Depending on the role, a second interview may be required. If you proceed to the next stage, we’ll conduct pre-employment checks, including reference verification and a drug screen. Drug screens can be scheduled at our office in Sparwood, B.C. or at a facility closer to your place of residence. We receive a high volume of applications and aim to keep the process transparent and efficient.
I don’t see a job that fits my skills right now. How can I stay connected for future opportunities?
We encourage you to complete our Stay in Touch form, located here. While we may not have an immediate fit right now, we'll keep your information on hand for future opportunities. Be sure to keep checking back regularly for new roles that may match your skills!
Is remote work an option for any positions?
We believe being present in the office fosters stronger connections, accelerates professional development and enables faster information sharing and decision-making. As such, all positions are full-time, in-office. Our positions are primarily on-site at our steelmaking coal operations in the Elk Valley. Some work opportunities are available at our corporate offices located in Calgary, Alberta and Vancouver, British Columbia. The job posting will indicate the work location, so you'll be aware of the expectations when you apply.
What is the housing availability like in the Elk Valley?
All of our mine sites are located near the scenic towns of Sparwood, Elkford, and Fernie, B.C., as well as the Crowsnest Pass, Alberta. Each community offers a variety of accommodation options, although housing in the Elk Valley can be competitive. We recommend researching local rental listings and connecting with local housing and real estate services. We also maintain a list of local accommodations that we can share upon request, along with links to community Facebook groups that are often helpful resources for finding housing.
Does your company provide accommodation?
We do not provide accommodation for all positions, but for certain roles, we offer short-term accommodation at our camp in Elkford, BC. This option is typically available for specific positions and is subject to availability. We encourage you to discuss this with your recruiter.
Does your company offer relocation assistance?
Yes, we offer relocation assistance for certain positions. Please check the job posting or discuss this with your recruiter for specific details related to relocation support.
Do you hire individuals with no experience or entry-level candidates?
Yes, we do hire entry-level candidates and those with limited experience for certain positions. Each job posting outlines the required qualifications, and we offer training and growth opportunities for those eager to start their careers with us. If you meet the basic qualifications but lack direct experience, we encourage you to apply, as we value a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
Do you offer employee referral programs?
Yes, we currently offer an employee referral program for Heavy Duty Mechanics. If you’re a Heavy Duty Mechanic and know someone who works with us, they can refer you for the position. If you're a current employee, you may be eligible for a referral bonus for successfully referring a qualified Heavy Duty Mechanic.
How do I apply for a co-op position?
We offer co-op terms starting in January, May and September, which last 8 to 12 months. We also hire summer students for four-month work terms starting in May. Co-op positions are generally posted 4 months before the start of each work term. Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate program and plan to return to school after their work term. You can view all current co-op job postings and submit your application directly through jobs.evr.com.
